In the case of a downgrade, expect some settings to be changed, reset or for some worlds to be corrupted.
ALWAYS make a backup before doing risky operations.

Updating | Downgrade the modpack (Modrinth)

Prerequisites

Before starting, please make sure:
  • The Modrinth App is installed and updated.
  • An instance of AXQOL is already installed.
  • Minecraft is closed.
If everything is good, then you can proceed.

Steps

1

Open the instance settings

  1. Launch the Modrinth App.
  2. Go to the Instances tab.
  3. Click the AX’s QOL instance you want to update.
  4. Click the gear icon (top right of the instance page).
You may find two gear icons in the top right at this point. Any will work as long as it opens the Instance settings and not the Modrinth App settings.
2

Open the version page

  1. In the sidebar of the menu that pops up, select “Installation”.
  2. Scroll a bit down until you locate the section that shows the current modpack version and the “Change version” button.
3

Choose target version

  1. Click on “Change version”.
  2. In the new popup that appears, make sure to click on “Show incompatible” to list all versions of the modpack, even older ones.
  3. Choose the version number you want to use. Check the Modrinth project page for changelogs if needed.
  4. In this version list:
    • To update, select a newer version than your current one.
    • To downgrade, select an older one.
  5. Check that the chosen version matches the Minecraft version and loader you want to use.
4

Apply the change

  1. After selecting the version, click on “Update to [version name]” or “Downgrade to [version name]”.
  2. Wait for the Modrinth App to download the new version.
At this point, launch the instance and check in-game if the version you selected is actually installed.

Troubleshooting

  • No versions shown / version missing
Double check if “Show incompatible” is enabled in the version selector.
  • World does not load / Corrupted / Game crashes on world load Try creating a new test world to see if the issue is world-specific.
If the issue persist, switch back to the previous version with a backup or using the same steps and restore your world backup.
